History
Originally, Bedford was considered part of Connecticut. It was founded by 22 Puritans in 1680, and grew to a thriving community of nearly 40 square miles. By royal decree, the Town of Bedford became part of New York in 1700. Working with other towns in Westchester County, Bedford played a vital role in the American Revolution, until the town was burned by the British in 1779. Thankfully, the town was rebuilt to offer the stunning community present today.

Bedford Village
The first hamlet in the Town of Bedford, Bedford Village is home to many historical buildings and sites. Many of the Bedford Village homes built after the American Revolution are still standing. Coupled with a historic museum, this Bedford Village real estate area provides incredible insight into the rich past of this hamlet.

Katonah
Katonah is a hamlet in the Bedford real estate region most known for its Victorian style homes. Though its history is nearly as long as Bedford Village’s, the creation of a nearby reservoir forced many of the homes to relocate to a position South of the original hamlet. Today, Katonah boasts an Art Museum and the John Jay Homestead as fantastic places to visit during your stay.

Bedford Hills
Originally, this area was created as a railroad stop. Since it began as a hub of travel, it remains a thriving business center, with easy access to the nearby farms and rural life. Many of the town’s social programs such as police stations are centered here, as well as other business developments. With both public transportation and easy access to major roads, this area maintains a professional appeal, while staying connected to the natural beauty of the area.
